acclaim supports Ministers insurance announcement
Midland’s based driving school, acclaim, has backed the announcement by Transport Minister Mike Penning to tackle uninsured drivers.
Mr Penning has announced measures that will make it illegal to keep an uninsured vehicle, rather than it only being illegal to drive it. Currently the average motorist pays on in the region of £30 per year within their premiums to cover accidents involving uninsured and untraced drivers. It is also believed that there are around 160 people killed every year and a further 23,000 injured by such drivers.
acclaim’s Operations Director Roger Ison said “we support all measures, which improve the road for other drivers. It is quite wrong that the majority of law-abiding drivers are put at risk of uninsured drivers and then have to pay for the privilege through higher insurance premiums.”
It is believed that around 400 uninsured vehicles are seized every day.
