What is the congestion charge?

It's a fee charged on most motor vehicles operating within the Congestion Charge Zone In Central London between 07:00 and 18:00 Mondays to Fridays. It is not charged on weekends, public holidays or between Christmas Day and New Year's Day. It was designed to reduce traffic flow & pollution within London.

Where is the Congestion Charge Zone?

The red area in the map below is the congestion charge zone; if you enter in this area during the times it is active you will have to pay.

How much is it?

The charge is £11.50 per day for any vehicle driving within the zone. You can drive in and out of the area as many times in one day as you like for the same cost. You can pay the following day (before midnight) but the price increases to £14

What happens if I don't pay?

You will receive a hefty penalty charge notice (PCN) of £80-£160
